The symposiasts recline on an ornate couch, with a table laden with food in front of them. They lie on pillows, supporting themselves with their left elbows – this is how they are usually represented. Two are in intense conversation, holding wine cups, the third one listens to the music played by the female aulos-player in a decorative dress. The heads are wreathed, which shows that this is a festive occasion. The other side of the vase depicts three youths. They too wear wreaths with bunches of grapes at the sides – Dionysos is also present.
