White marble
Marble origin: Usak (Turkey)?

Mineralogy: calcite
Texture: heteroblastic
Maximum grain size (MGS): 1.40 mm
δ18OV-PDB: -3.10 ‰  -3.14 ‰
δ13CV-PDB: 2.32 ‰  2.33 ‰
Cathodoluminescence color: mauve and dark purple
Cathodoluminescence intensity: weak
Cathodoluminescence distribution: heterogeneous (zonation)

Stable isotope data fall in a zone where different source areas (i.e. Carrara, Marmara, Paros, Thasos, Hymettus, Aphrodisias, Afyon, Göktepe, Naxos) overlap and the data are not conclusive. Under cathodoluminescence, this marble shows the characteristic pattern of marbles from Usak. Stable isotope data and texture are in agreement with this diagnosis. There is some uncertainty concerning this potential provenance. Discrimination with respect to other Turkish marbles is more difficult because Turkish marbles show a great diversity of cathodomicrofacies.
