Marble analysis, 50.958
Votive relief: Totoes
White marble
Place of origin: Thasos (Greece)
Mineralogy: calcite
Texture: heteroblastic
Maximum grain size (MGS): 4.08 mm
δ18OV-PDB: -0.70 ‰
δ13CV-PDB: 2.42 ‰
Cathodoluminescence color: brown-orange
Cathodoluminescence intensity: intermediate
Cathodoluminescence distribution: homogeneous
Stable isotopic signature is not conclusive, as it falls in a zone of overlapping fields: those of the Carrara, Marmara, Hymettus, Paros and Thasos marbles. However, the MGS, the texture and the orange color of luminescence support Thasos as its origin.
