Fragment of a relief representing a charioteer. The surface is strongly abraded, it is thus hard to tell whether the figure mounting the chariot is a man or a woman. The person wears a long chiton and a mantle (himation) over the shoulder, the long hair is tied with a ribbon, the hands hold the reins. All that is left of the horses drawing the chariot are the tails of the four animals and two hindlegs at the right edge of the fragment. The relief forms part of a series consisting of several slabs, which may once have decorated an Archaic period temple at the Acropolis.
