The statue shows a mature woman. Her face is oval, the forehead smooth and framed by spiralling curls arranged in a half-circle. The eyes are large and deeply set, the lips slightly parted as if she was speaking. She wears a close-fitting cap (sakkos), which — together with the treatment of the hair — makes the statue look uniquely archaic from a Greek perspective. Is she the representative of an earlier generation? The statue probably depicts a female member of the ruling dynasty.
