The narrow stele commemorates a youth from Boeotia. He is standing naked save for his mantle thrown over the left shoulder and held together in his right hand. He holds the basic equipment for after sports care in his left hand: a bottle filled with scented oil (aryballos) and a scraper (strigilis). His dog sits attentively at his feet; the youth was thus commemorated as an athlete and hunter. The relief was made of Boeotian stone in a style different from that of the Athenian reliefs. It is probably the work of a local sculptor. The stele was later reused and engraved with the name of a man called Agathokles.
