About

The site Hyperión makes ancient Greek, Roman, Etruscan and Egyptian works of art preserved in Hungarian public collections accessible online on a joint platform, giving collection information, images and bibliography on the objects. It also aims to put these antiquities in context by offering freely accessible parallels from around the world (Periégésis), as well as essays on ancient art and culture (Lexicon). While Hyperión and Periégésis are partly available in English, the Lexicon is chiefly in Hungarian. The site is continuously updated.
Hyperión is maintained by the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest and is created through cooperation with a number of museums and universities in Hungary.
