White marble
Marble origin: Afyon (Turkey)
Mineralogy: calcite
Texture: heteroblastic
Maximum grain size (MGS): 0.81 mm
δ18OV-PDB: -3.95 ‰
δ13CV-PDB: 1.21 ‰
Cathodoluminescence color: yellow, brown and dark brown
Cathodoluminescence intensity: strong to weak depending on the place
Cathodoluminescence distribution: heterogeneous
Stable isotope data fall in a zone where different source areas (i.e. Marmara, Paros, Aphrodisias, Afyon, Naxos) overlap and the data are not conclusive. The MGS, the texture and the heterogeneous distribution of the luminescence support Afyon as the origin of this marble.
